One Young Word -South Africa
I started thinking a lot about running an Educational organization to help Yemeni people as result of working with foreigners from different countries and seeing differences in their educational standard and what you would find in Yemen. I realized that even not-so-well-educated Westerners seem to have just enough education to cope with schooling even in their old age and seem to possess broad knowledge about most things. Luckily, I was selected this year to be a delegate in One Young World summit which I met 1250 young leaders from 190 countries descended on Johannesburg. That summit gave me the chance to attend to many plenary sessions and different breakout sessions in education, global business, human rights, leadership government, sustainable development and youth unemployment with international counselors such as Kofi Anan, Mohammed Youns…and the list goes on
It was a life experience which I shared my thoughts, belief, concerns, dreams, and hope with people who I consider them the future leaders. That encouraged me more to run my NGO which called One Hand. It aims to run educational programs in Yemen to expose young Yemenis to intercultural education and help disadvantaged youth to access school education. I love my country deeply and hope to see Yemen compete in the global economy soon. At the end, I would love to thank South Africa who supported me to become a successful story….. By Salah Algabli
